Community services to continue in Manurewa

Kāinga Ora has agreed to extend the leases for four community houses in South Auckland including 1 Rata Vine drive (RaWiri House). This will provide certainty for the ongoing use of these sites and the services delivered from them.
In 2023, Auckland Council agreed to the lease extensions on the understanding that the properties would be returned by 30 June 2026. The Council were advised again in 2025 they would have to find alternative properties for the providers.
Auckland Council will lease the properties from Kāinga Ora for various terms and sublease them to service providers and continue to be responsible for managing those relationships. When these leases expire it is the council’s responsibility to find alternative properties for these providers, if needed.
