Statement regarding former employee facing SFO charges
21 October 2026
We are deeply concerned by the allegations involving a former Kāinga Ora employee relating to alleged historic offending. We are fully cooperating with the Serious Fraud Office on the matter.
We take matters involving public procurement activity very seriously and expect the highest standards of integrity from everyone who works for or with Kāinga Ora.
The individual the allegations relate to is a former Kāinga Ora employee who left the organisation some time ago.
The charges concern the alleged actions of an individual, and we understand this to be an isolated case with no evidence of wrongdoing by any current Kāinga Ora employee.
Over recent years, Kāinga Ora has strengthened its procurement and contract management practices. We continue to make improvements to ensure there is strong oversight, robust checks and balances, and safeguards to protect the integrity of our commercial activities.
As the matter is now before the courts, it would be inappropriate for us to comment further.
